Red Hot

You're gonna love the three Red Hot picks this month:

This has got to be the Red Hottest wall covering I've ever seen....it's great for apartment dwellers....Tempaper. The vinyl coated self adhesive wallpaper is also perfect for lining cabinets and drawers. Use it on an accent wall or line the back of a plain stock bookcase then paint the outside of the bookcase a high gloss contrasting color.  You'll be amazed.

The Mini Chair. Not only does this chair have a vintage flair it's modern aesthetic works with any design style. When it comes to comfort this chair is no mini. It sits lean and low. Upholstered in the plushest white leather...wrap yourself  in this beauty and relax.

Miriam Aust's vase and lamp design is hot! The combination of a translucent glass vase filled with aquatic plants and converted into a table lamp is unique.  Once the waterproof light bulb is integrated in the design what emerges is something green and fresh.

A swinging eve on the ave

We tried out our best East Coast Swing moves last Saturday eve on the ave (California). One of the best swing bands around, Steve Lucky and the Rhumba Bums, played a free show in the city's Twilight Concert Series.

That Steve is a showman. He enlisted the crowd to sing; he did a faux timestep; and all along he sported those natty sideburns. We had a blast.

Miss Carmen Getit (shown here in a silky red dress) played the guitar and sang with those indefinable sweet tones that somehow say "vintage." When I figure out how she does it, I'm going to steal it.

Meanwhile, we just kept dancing. Apologies to anyone I whacked with my purse.

Also pictured is bass player Luke Vesely, who hails from Menlo Park. I'm pretty sure he played in the jazz band with my kid brother at Menlo-Atherton H.S. Small world.

Final note on the Twilight concerts. The Moonalice show at Rinconada Park has been rescheduled from July 16, as was originally reported in some outlets -- including ours -- to July 23. You'll have to save your appetite for '70s rock until then.
