Have cello, will travel

He bills himself as "the wildest beatboxing cellist in the West." Now Cello Joe (aka Joey Chang) is perhaps aiming for a broader geographic title. He's about to embark with a group of other musicians on a six-month bicycle tour of Europe, dubbed The Pleasant Revolution.

The Los Altos native,
profiled in the Weekly last year, is likely not looking to overthrow any governments. His strongest passions seem to be for organic vegetables and freestyling on his cello. And doing very green things. This tour is all about bike-generated power: Musician/cyclists are carrying their own equipment so they can put on amplified concerts all over the place without using a truck or van.

Joe says in an email, "We prop up the rear wheels of our bikes, engage generators, and audience members join us on stage pedaling the bicycles to generate all the electricity for the sound system, bringing new meaning to the term 'audience participation'!"

Gilligan would love it.
